The UW-Superior Chalk & Wire ePortfolio Guide (a printable PDF version) is now available online. This guide will help students:

'Jacket Mail

All UW-Superior students, faculty and staff have a 'Jacket Mail account. Your e-mail address is username@uwsuper.edu, where "username" is your E-Hive login ID username. On campus, PC users use Microsoft Outlook and Mac users use Microsoft Entourage software, found on your computer, to access 'Jacket Mail. Off-campus Web access is available through My E-Hive.

Barracuda Spam Firewall

The Barracuda Spam Firewall protects your e-mail from unwanted messages. The firewall quarantines messages that appear to be spam, and sends you a daily list of those messages. To view your quarantine, read messages, or delete unwanted messages, log in through http://barracuda.uwsuper.edu:8000. At the same address, Windows users can download a plug-in for Outlook Mail that allows you to train the spam firewall for improved performance.

Antivirus Software

UW-Superior has licensed Symantec Antivirus for Windows and Norton Antivirus for MacOS for all students, faculty, and staff. You may use these tools on computers you own for university-related work as long as you are enrolled or employed at UW-Superior.

Pick up a Safe Computing Software disk at the Technology ResourceCenter or Old Main Computer Lab, or download and install the software from Symantec Antivirus.

Wireless Computer Networking

UW-Superior network users are authorized to use the university's wireless network. To connect wirelessly using your Wi-Fi network card or built-in wireless networking in an area with wireless service, open your Web browser and log in on the wireless network login page that automatically appears.

If you are a campus visitor, you can obtain a guest login at the Rothwell Student Center Information Desk or at the Technology Resource Center in 122 McCaskill Hall.
