Kathy Hubbard is a sculptor, an art educator, and has a passion for being involved with arts in the community. She will continue to guide, support and mentor prospective artists and art teachers by teaching Art Education, Foundations and Developing Creative Functioning. Kathy has an MFA in sculpture and ceramics from Washington State University, and a doctorate in Art Education from the Union Institute and University. She has taught Art Education in Africa and has lived a number of years in southern Mexico while earning her interdisciplinary PhD in Art, Art Education and Women's Studies.  Her sculpture, created from piñon pine branches salvaged from a charred Colorado forest, and raw felted wool,  is symbolic of the human condition. Having been severely tested and having withstood the ravages of the fire, the branches were scorched and damaged but held their beauty and strength and now make freestanding six or seven foot tall sculptures that radiate power and independence.
