Students earn honors at annual juried art exhibit

Several University of Wisconsin-Superior undergraduate and graduate art students took home honors May 3 in judging for the university's annual Senior Capstone and Juried Art Exhibit.

The exhibit is held each year by UW-Superior's Department of Visual Arts in Kruk Gallery on the UW-Superior campus. Artist Susan Dunkerley of Superior, whose photographs have been published and exhibited nationally and in Europe, was guest judge of this year's exhibit.

Students earning a Juror's Merit Award were:

  • Jeremy Robinson of Superior for his untitled work in photography. He is a junior pursuing a bachelor of fine arts degree in studio art.

  • Sarah Riley of Superior for her untitled work in stoneware mixed media. She is a senior majoring in art therapy.

  • Cate Pool of Shell Lake, Wis., for her acrylic painting titled "If I had a Hammer." She is a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in studio art.

  • Karlie Thomas of Superior for her acrylic painting titled "Split Personality." She is a freshman majoring in studio art.

  • Kameron Young of South Range, Wis., for his acrylic painting "Self Portrait." He is a senior with a minor in art.

  • Andrew Mathiassen of Superior for his bronze work titled "Pugilist." He is a non-degree-seeking student.
