Courses: Variety of undergraduate- and graduate-level courses, ranging from the basic service course (COMM 110) to more specialized media communication courses in theory, ethics, the law, media communication and society, special topics and new communication technologies.

Scholarship and Outside Activities: My research focuses on the politics of mediated representation, especially as it concerns sometimes marginalized groups. Some of my ongoing research, for example, involves historicizing, and accounting for, changes in LGBT representation on U.S. television in recent years. I also want to scrutinize the cultural narratives attending these changes and better understand the different investments of pro and antigay rights groups and media companies in LGBT visibility. I work from a critical-cultural framework and draw from a number of fields, including the sociology of sport, mass communication, feminist studies, literary studies, and film and television studies. My objects of study are also wide-ranging; from entertainment and news media to marketing and public relations.
