News and Event Details
Communicating Arts graduating senior, Jenny Schlender, introduced Gary Farmer on Tuesday.
"We have the pleasure of hosting a very influential Native actor here today. For those who are not familiar with Mr. Gary Farmer's career, you may know him better as Victor's Father, Arnold Joseph, in Smoke Signals. Or perhaps, you know him as Philert Bono in Pow Wow Highway. Or, my favorite, Nobody in the film, Dead Man" said Schlender.
Schlender also discussed Farmer's career, which includes acting in over 100 film and television productions as well as directing films. He is also a musician and his band, Gary Farmer and The Troublemakers, performed Tuesday night at 7 pm in the Yellowjacket Union.
"Gary is a member of the Cayuga Nation, Wolf Clan. He has studied photography and film at both Syracuse University and Ryerson Polytechnic University...While we love to watch Gary Farmer on screen, today we are very fortunate to have him in person" ended Schlender.
