Dr. Sakib will be joining the Department of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Superior as an Assistant Professor in Economics of Sustainable Management starting this fall of 2012. Prior to this appointment, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor for the academic year 2011-2012 at the Department of Economics of the University of Montana. He was also a lecturer at the Department of Economics at North South University in Bangladesh for the academic years of 2003-2005. He received his doctoral degree in economics from the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Wyoming in 2011. He completed his degree in M.A. in Economics from the University of British Columbia (UBC) of Canada in 2002.
Dr. Sakib's research specializations include applied microeconomics with applications on issues related to environmental and resource economics, development and health economics, and behavioral economics. His research is motivated by the inter-dependencies between human behavior and environmental management against natural disasters as a result of climate change around coastal areas. He also has research interests in human behavioral responses towards resource conservation and species protection.
He received a grant from the South Asian Network for Development and Environment Economics (SANDEE), to conduct a household survey in the southwest coastal areas of Bangladesh during 2008 - 2010. His publication includes a policy brief and a forthcoming book chapter to be published by the Cambridge University Press. In addition, he has couple of articles under review in reputed journals.
