Dr. Zamira Simkins
Assistant Professor of Economics
Education: Doctorate degree in economics in 2008 from American University. Fields of interest include macroeconomics, political economy, development economics, comparative economic systems, international economics.
Experience: Teaching at the college level and working with organizations that include the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Interesting Fact: Native speaker of Kyrgyz, fluent in English and Russian, basic speaker of French and Turkish.
Q. What are you anticipating most about your job at UW-Superior?
A. "Looking forward to meeting new colleagues and students and contributing to the university's success. "
Q. What's your favorite topic to teach?
A. "I am passionate about economics in general and enjoy teaching a variety of topics, particularly applied ones. My latest favorite lecture was on the recent financial crisis and the U.S. economy."
Q. What message do you have for your students?
A. "There is a world of opportunities out there and knowledge is the key that will open the doors for you. And while it is mostly up to you to learn, advance, and succeed, you are not alone in your quest. I am here to help you."
