Canadian National Railroad Studies Scholarships

These scholarships are provided by an endowment from Canadian National Railway Company (CN). The objectives of these scholarships is to encourage academic development of students in the transportation and logistics management major who have an interest in exploring the rail industry; and to better serve the rail industry by supporting future rail industry leaders.

Awards:

A $2,000 scholarship for an incoming freshman with a Transportation and Logistics Management major with an emphasis in rail study.

This scholarship is renewable annually for four years if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA and majors in Transportation and

Logistics Management with a rail focus.

A $1,500 scholarship for a Junior with a Transportation and Logistics Management major with an emphasis in rail study.

A $1,500 scholarship for a Senior with a Transportation and Logistics Management major with an emphasis in rail study.

A $1,000 student rail research fellowship.

Deadline:March 7, 2008

Note: Deadline for Submission of First Year Scholarship is July 31, 2008 to Joe Youngberg in the Foundation Office.

Twin Cities Roundtable of CSCMP Scholarship

The Twin Cities Roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) offers a competitive scholarship program for students attending college in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The purpose of the program is to further the Council's educational goals and to enhance interest in the supply chain profession.

Eligibility:
The scholarship is open to students through first semester seniors enrolled in an accredited college or universities located in the states of MN, ND, SD and western WI.

Awards:
One $2000 scholarship will be awarded to qualified students. The 1st and 2nd place finalists will be awarded the student volunteer opportunity at the 2008 CSCMP Global Conference in Denver, CO. The awards will be announced at the annual Roundtable seminar in March 2008.

Entry Requirements:

1. A minimum GPA of 2.5.
2. Must be a student in good standing at the time of the award.
3. Must have taken or be taking at least one logistics-related course.

2. Transcript, highlighted to demonstrate each of the above.
3. Maximum two page typed, doubled space, essay answering the following question:

SOLE – Annual Logistics Scholarships

SOLE – the International Society of Logistics and its Logistics Education Foundation (LEF) sponsors an annual scholarship competition for students currently enrolled on a full-time basis at an accredited educational institution. Applicants are evaluated based on their intention to pursue a career related to logistics, scholastic achievements, as well as indications of current and future contributions to the logistics profession, as evidenced by course work, special projects, research, and/or on-the-job logistics experience. All scholarship award winners are required to submit a student paper to SOLE's professional journal, the Logistics Spectrum. Scholarships apply to the next academic year.

$1000 scholarship will be awarded to the qualified students.

The L.L. Waters Scholarship Program

Established by the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L), the objective of this scholarship is to encourage advanced undergraduate and graduatestudy in the field of Transportation/Logistics/Physical Distribution, for the purpose of preparing persons of high potential for professional careers in the field. The Scholarship has been named in honor of Dr. L.L. Waters, Professor Emeritus of Transportation and Business History in Indiana University's School of Business, in recognition of his many contributions to undergraduate and graduate level education in transportation and logistics during a teaching career of more than three decades.

Eligibility:
Undergraduate students in their junior year at a fully accredited four-year college or university, who are enrolled in a degree program in which Transportation/Logistics/Physical Distribution is their area of concentration are eligible. Students enrolled in, or accepted to, a fully accredited college or university in the pursuit of graduate studies in transportation/logistics/physical distribution as their concentration of study, are also eligible. Recipients are selected without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Awards will be on a competitive basis, based upon scholastic performance and potential, and evidence of the degree of commitment to the pursuit of a professional career in transportation / logistics.

Scholarship Award:
L.L. Waters Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2000. Each recipient of the scholarship is accorded the designation "L.L. Waters Scholar."

The winner is determined by the Trustees of the L.L. Waters Scholarship Fund.

Truckload Carriers Association - Scholarships

Each year, the Truckload Carriers Association selects deserving students affiliated with the trucking industry to receive college scholarship money. One year scholarships are awarded on a per-semester basis to be automatically renewed for the second semester upon recommendation of the University and showing of good academic standing by the recipient. The total amount of the scholarship is typically from $2,000 to $5,000.

Eligibility:

Any college junior or senior in good standing, who is the child, grandchild, or spouse of an employee or an employee of a trucking company, or the child, grandchild or spouse of an independent contractor or an independent contractor affiliated with a trucking company and attending an accredited four-year college or university is eligible for a scholarship.

The recipient of the scholarship must show financial need and excellent scholastic achievements in his freshman and sophomore years, (minimum 3.33 cumulative GPA required), maintain full-time student status, and demonstrate that he/she is an individual of high character and integrity.

Those students pursuing transportation and business degrees will be given special consideration.

The scholarship will be awarded without regard to sex, race, color, national origin or religion.

Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) is an international organization of transportation professionals dedicated to excellence in transportation through the achievement and success of women. Through local chapters, which include male and female members, WTS provides seminars, newsletters, job referrals, conferences, and networking opportunities.

This program provides an opportunity for any member of the LRIW, member company or an individual's dependant(s) to request an application for scholarship funds.

Material Handling Education Foundation Scholarship Program

The Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and supporting material handling education.

The Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to students pursuing an education in material handling logistics. Established in 1976, the Foundation has

provided funds, through private and corporate donations, to graduate and undergraduate students, as well as to academicians and their institutions.

The Foundation is administered by the offices of Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) in Charlotte, NC. Since 1976, the Foundation has

awarded over $1,700,000 from contributions to fund hundreds of scholarships, faculty/student travel conference grants, instructional aid grants and fellowships.

The Objective of the Material Handling Education Foundation Scholarship Program is to promote the study of material handling and to expose as many students as possible to the material handling industry, including the vast array of equipment, systems and technologies represented by the industry; the role of material handling in a productive enterprise; and the many career paths available within the supplier, distributor and end-user (applications) sides of the industry. The Goal of the scholarship program is to encourage choices upon graduation that will ultimately lead to careers within the industry and careers in teaching and research that will prepare the next generation of industry leaders.

Scholarship Eligibility and Criteria

1. Applicants must be enrolled, or intending to enroll, in either an undergraduate, four (4) year baccalaureate program or a post graduate program leading to a masters or Ph.D. degree at a pre-qualified institution. Undergraduates must have completed a minimum of two (2) years of their undergraduate education. Students from junior and community colleges or other two (2) year post secondary institutions are also encouraged to apply if they have been accepted as a transfer student to a four (4) year program. Applicants must have maintained a "B" overall grade point average and be full-time students.
2. Programs of study eligible for Foundation scholarships include Civil, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering (and Engineering Technology); computer engineering; computer science; and business administration with an emphasis in production management, industrial distribution and/or logistics.
3. Students must be enrolled in an accredited and pre-qualified programof study with the resources and means to support the study of material handling and material handling related subjects either through formal course work, independent study, summer work or coop experience, industry internships or some combination of same. Applicants must outline in the required essaya plan of study for their entire academic program that documents how they will achieve the stated objective of the scholarship program.

The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program

The McNair Program at the University of Wisconsin–Superior prepares income eligible, first generation college students and students from groups underrepresented in graduate education for doctoral study. It is a nationwide program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, created in memory of Ronald E. McNair, Ph.D., an African-American physicist killed in the Space Shuttle Challenger mission in 1986.

Each year, 20 students are chosen to participate in the program's activities, which include seminars, cultural events, graduate school visits, and more. During the summer, 10 scholars participate in a paid individual research experience, working collaboratively with a faculty mentor on a project of interest to the student. Program participants also receive GRE preparation instruction and help in the graduate school application process.

The Activities:

· Collaborative research in your field with faculty mentor

·Presentation of your research at the McNair Scholars Posters Session

·Publication of your research in the McNair Scholars Journal

·Workshops and seminars on a variety of topics

·GRE test preparation

·Academic counseling and tutoring as needed

· Be income eligible and first generation (neither parent has a Bachelor's degree) OR

· Be from a group that is underrepresented in graduate school (Native American, Hispanic or African American)

· All students must be sophomore to senior undergraduates students AND Be a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States

Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program

The objective of the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) is to attract qualified students to the field of transportation education and research, and advance transportation workforce development. This program is administered through the Federal Highway Administration's Office of Professional and Corporate Development in their Universities and Grants Programs.

Transportation Clubs International Scholarships

Transportation Clubs International (TCI) is a professional association consisting of transportation clubs, companies and individuals in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

TCI member clubs are populated by recognized experts in transportation, logistics and supply chain management involving freight and people. TCI (and its predecessor Associated Traffic Clubs) dates from the early 1900s. Rich in tradition but committed to changing with the times, TCI has earned a reputation as a preeminent transportation industry organization.

TCI awards scholarships to students enrolled in accredited institutions of higher learning in a vocational or degree program in the fields of Transportation Logistics or Traffic Management.

TCI scholarships are awarded based upon scholastic ability, potential, professional interest and character, and financial need.

Students interested in applying for a TCI scholarship can download a TCI Scholarship Application to submit for consideration by the Scholarship Committee.

Awards:

Scholarship awards range from $500 to $1500.

The completed application, with all supporting papers, documents and photograph, must be in the hands of the Awards Committee no later than April 30thof each year.

Winning candidates will be notified well in advance of the formal announcements at the Annual Educational Conference of Transportation Clubs International in September.

The scholarship application supporting paper work includes:

″ A certified copy of the applicant's college/university transcript
″ Three letters of recommendation
″ A small, current photograph (to be used for publication)
″ Essay - submit an essay of not more than two hundred (200) words, explaining why you have chosen transportation or an allied field as a career path, and outline your objectives.
