Spring and fall courses may be taken on campus or online.  Summer courses require campus attendance.

The Reading Teacher - 316 License

(total of 18 semester credits)

• TED 663 Developing Literacy Pre K - 3 (3 credits)
• TED 664 Developing Literacy 4 - 12 (3 credits)
• TED 665 Using Literacy Processes in the Content Area (3 credits)
• TED 701 Introduction to Reading Difficulties (3 credits)
• TED 702 Practicum in Reading Difficulties K-12 (3 credits)
• TED 606 Children's Literature (3 credits)
  

The Reading Specialist - 317 License

316 requirements plus:

• TED 705 The K-12 Literacy Program (3 credits)
• TED 700 Classroom Inquiry Into Literacy (3 credits)

The MSE Reading

(minimum of 30 credit hours)

317 requirements plus 6 credits of foundations courses:

• TED 724 Teaching as Reflective Decision-Making
• TED 734 Current Developments in Student Learning and Their Applications

3 credits of research:

• TED 700 Classroom Inquiry Into Literacy (3 credits)
  • Or TED 750/752 Research Foundations of Education/Research Project

Students who have taken 606, 663, 664, or 665 as an undergraduate (406, 463, 464, 465) or may have transferred those courses in may choose from the following courses:

• TED 741 Using Educational Assessment to Inform Practice (3 credits)
• TED 744 Trends in Instructional Practices (3 credits)
• TED 709 History and Philosophy of Literacy Instruction (2 credits)
• TED 740 Seminar in Supervision of Student Teachers and Interns (2 credit)
  • And others as approved by the advisor

Additionally, courses must be started and completed in accordance with the UW-S semester and summer session dates.

Students may enroll for up to 9 credit hours; after that, individuals must apply to be admitted into a specific graduate program.
