Teaching Physical Education

UW-Superior’s Department of Health and Human Performance offers a early childhood to adult physical education teaching major. It is based on the seven dimensions of wellness: physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, career, social, and environmental as part of the liberal arts educational foundation. The program seeks to serve all students in a caring educational environment which fosters the intellectual growth of all students concerning wellness for life, and develops critical thinking skills, positive attitudes, and personal responsibility in all students toward leading productive and healthy lifestyles. The Health & Human Performance Department goal is to develop certified physical education teachers who are engaged in their professional endeavors and who are able to impart knowledge and skills to diverse populations in a variety of educational settings.

Physical Education - Teaching Concentration

UW-Superior’s Department of Health and Human Performance offers a early childhood to adult physical education teaching major. Physical Education - Exercise Science

UW-Superior’s physical education major with exercise science concentration is a broad-based program. It provides the knowledge and skills needed in such careers as adult fitness, industrial medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, pre-physical or occupational therapy or even chiropractic or medical schools. Students gain basic and advanced knowledge of the structure and function of the human body, and nutrition, health and clinical exercise physiology.

Sports Management Minor

UW-Superior’s Department of Health and Human Performance offers a broad range of programs that enable students to study physical education, health, health education and exercise science. Students use these programs to launch careers in education, business, sports, personal fitness, public health and other fields. The program also offers minors that are ideal complements to majors in education, health and business.

Physical Education - Community Health Promotion

UW-Superior's community health promotion concentration in physical education focuses on fitness, health and disease prevention. Students selecting this program often pursue public health careers, such as federal food inspector or sanitarian.
