Program Description

UW-Superior's Department of Health and Human Performance offers several majors that enable students to study physical education, health, health education, fitness management and exercise science. Students use these programs to launch careers in education, business, sports, personal fitness, public health and other fields. The program also offers minors that are ideal complements to majors in education, health and business.

Majors in physical education prepare students for teaching at a variety of grade and ability levels. Many teachers enhance their employment options by completing minors in coaching, health, health education or exceptional education (adapted physical education.)

The mission of the Health & Human Performance Department is to provide students with a knowledge base, creating a positive attitude and lifelong skills in the seven dimensions of wellness:  physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, career, social and environmental (i.e. personal health) as part of the liberal arts educational foundation.  Programs in the Health & Human Performance Department seek to serve all students in a caring educational environmenta toward liberal arts studies in physical education and health and/or pre-professional studies as physical education/health teachers or non-teaching allied health professionals.
