Mr. Earl Salemink has served as Principal Trumpet of the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra (DSSO) since 1989. He has performed locally with the DSSO's Brass Quintet and Brass Ensemble, Lyric Opera of the North, Northland Opera Theater Experience, Duluth Festival Opera Orchestra, Big Time Jazz Band, Ray Bergin's Big Band, Twin Ports Wind Ensemble, the University of Minnesota - Duluth's (UMD) Opera Orchestra and Festival Orchestra, Arrowhead Chorale, Early Music Orchestra of the College of St. Scholastica (CSS), and the Itasca Symphony, and has also performed with the Jolly Bohemian's Polka Band in Iowa and the Ringling Brother's Barnum and Bailey's Circus. Mr. Salemink has performed as a member of the Tulsa Philharmonic in Tulsa, OK, Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the Cedar Rapids Symphony in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Tri-Cities Symphony in Davenport, Iowa, and Principal Trumpet with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He has been a featured soloist with the DSSO, UW-Superior Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Band, Twin Ports Wind Ensemble, and Tulsa Philharmonic. Mr. Salemink received his Master's degree in trumpet performance from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1983, his Bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City in 1982. He graduated high school from the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan in 1977.
