As an active and versatile performer, Dr. Vicki Fingalson has been acclaimed for her "luscious sound and comedic sensibility", as well as her "soaring soprano" and "powerful voice."  

Most recently, Vicki has performed the roles of Nedda in I Pagliacci with Western Plains Opera; Marianne in Der Rosenkavalier & Sandman/Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel with Minnesota Orchestra; Katherine in The Vagabond King with Skylark Opera; and Dircea in Casanova's Homecoming with The Minnesota Opera.  Upcoming national engagements include her debut with the Colorado Symphony singing the roles of Sandman/Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel

Locally, Dr. Fingalson has performed Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana with Lyric Opera of the North and will return to the company in December as the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors.  In addition, she will make her debut with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra as Soprano Soloist in Mendelssohn's Elijah.

Other performances include First Lady in The Magic Flute with Minnesota Orchestra; Musetta in La Boheme with West Virginia Symphony, Colorado Opera Festival, and Colorado Lyric Theatre; Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow, Phyllis in Iolanthe, Tina in The Red Mill with Skylark Opera; Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Papagena in The Magic Flute, and Gianetta in L'Elisir d'Amore with Fargo-Moorhead Opera; Pamina in The Magic Flute with the Twin Cities Lyric Theatre; and Frasquita in Carmen with Fargo-Moorhead Symphony. In addition, she often appears with husband, baritone Jeffrey Madison, in recital and concert performances. 

A two-time district winner/regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Dr. Fingalson was also a winner at the Denver Allied Arts Art Song competition and a top-twenty semi-finalist in the CCO International Opera Singer competition. ??

Dr. Fingalson received degrees in voice performance from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities (DMA), University of Colorado - Boulder (MM), and Concordia College - Moorhead, MN (BM). Vicki has served as Minnesota Opera's Teaching Artist, Opera Workshop Instructor at University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, and Instructor of Voice at Concordia College, Moorhead.  In addition, she frequently serves as stage director and vocal coach for Minnesota Opera's Summer Opera Camp.  Currently, Dr. Fingalson is the head of voice and opera at UWS where she teaches Studio Voice, Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Repertoire, Diction, and directs Opera Workshop.  She is co-producer of the Superior Voices Benefit Concert seriesandis the 2010 recipient of the Distinguished Creativity Faculty Award at UW-Superior.
