International Tours Choir ConcertThe UW-Superior Acappella Choiris the primary choral ensemble within the Music Department of the School of Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.  Dedicated to the performance of great choral works from the past and present, the mission of the Acappella Choir includes presenting a wide variety of styles and musical experiences to a broad audience, extending from Superior throughout all of northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.   The choir joined the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra and Chorus for a performance of the Verdi Requiem in May, 2006, under the direction of Markand Thakar.  The choir has been invited to present concerts in Beijing and Shanghai, China, in the spring of 2008.  Previous travels have taken the choir to Brazil in 2005, as well as Eastern Europe in 2002, where the Acappella Choir had the distinct privilege of being the first American choir to participate in the Universitas Cantat International Choir Festival in Slovakia and Austria.  In 2001 the choir took part in the Venezuelan Choral Festival, where it was directed by acclaimed Venezuelan conductors Maria Guinand and Alberto Grau.  The Acappella Choir has performed in school and concert settings throughout the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota in the United States of America, as well as Canada. The choir had the privilege of receiving masterclass instruction from members of the acclaimed British  a cappella group Scholars of London. The Choir has also been privileged to sing under the direction of internationally renowned conductors Robert Ray and William Hatcher.  In its ninth year, the Acappella Choir is one of two choirs in the Department of Music under the baton of Dr. Matthew Faerber.  In addition to performance opportunities, the ensembles offer continuing and varied conducting experiences for students in the choral conducting.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Choir or more information, please contact Dr. Matthew Faerber.
