Posted on Sep 6, 2011

In March 2011, Dr. Norma Stevlingson was in St. Germain-en-Laye, France, for the International Jehan Alain Festival celebrating the composer's 100th birthday anniversary.  There were concerts, recitals, and round-table discussions, along with speeches about various aspect of the composer's life.  Dr. Stevlingson was the only American invited to speak.  She spoke about working together with the composer's sister, celebrated organist Marie-Claire Alain, on a book about Jehan Alain's organ works which Dr. Stevlingson translated.  The book has been published in both a French and English version by Leduc of Paris.

At the end of September, 2011, Dr. Norma Stevlingson will be a presenter at the American Alain Festival at Wichita State University.  The people invited to speak about Jehan Alain or perform Alain works are all former students of Marie-Claire Alain.  Dr. Stevlingson and Dr. Jesse Eschbach (University of North Texas) will do a presentation in a question and answer format concerning many aspects of Alain's organ works.

At the end of October, 2011, Dr. Stevlingson will present a workshop and master class on Jehan Alain for the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
