News and Events Details
The University of Wisconsin-Superior's Chamber Orchestra will be the featured ensemble that performs before the start of the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra's April 30 concert.
The DSSO hosts a performance by a middle school, high school or collegiate orchestra from around the region before every concert. The informal performances are aimed at highlighting orchestra programs from around the Northland.
The 25 members of the UW-Superior Chamber Orchestra will perform from 7 to 7:40 p.m. in the lobby of the Duluth Auditorium at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. Works to be performed include Aaron Copland's "Hoe Down" and a movement from Dmitri Shostakovich's Eighth Quartet.
UW-Superior's Music Department has strong ties to the DSSO, with 13 faculty members performing in the symphony. Dr. Erin Aldridge, associate professor of music and orchestra conductor at UW-Superior, is the DSSO concertmaster.
