Join us for an evening of music featuring 2014 Symphonic Band Concerto Winners Lisa Pederson and William Collins, and student conductors Brian Langlee and Lisa Pederson.

The UW-Superior Symphonic Band will perform works including Cartoon by Paul Hart of Great Britain, Suite on Celtic Folk Songs by Tomohiro Tatebe of Japan, and Of Dark Lords and Ancient Kings by American composer Roland Barrett.
This concert also features the 2014 UW-Superior Symphonic Band Concerto winners Lisa Pederson, oboe, performing Concertante by French composer Émile Paladilhe; and William Collins, trombone, performing Annie Laurie by American composer Arthur Pryor. The Chamber Wind Ensemble will perform a movement from Suite in D by American composer Arthur Bird. The Full Brass Jackets will perform Farandole by French composer George Bizet.
Brian Langlee is a junior at the University of Wisconsin Superior where he is pursuing a degree in Instrumental Music Education. He is a graduate of Denfeld High School in Duluth, Minnesota. Brian studies trumpet with Earl Salemink and conducting with Pamela Bustos and enjoys performing in UW-Superior ensembles including Full Brass Jackets brass quintet, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra. He also performs locally including Duluth Superior's premiere late night talk show Kirov by Night as a member of the house band and community events such as the 2013 Duluth Superior Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Brian aspires to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather Don Bergman, retired band director of Proctor High School.
Lisa Pederson is a junior at the University of Wisconsin Superior pursuing a degree in Music Education with a Spanish minor. She is a graduate of IQ Academies Virtual High School and a native of Spooner, Wisconsin. In 2014 she was chosen as a Matinee Musicale scholarship recipient. She is an active performer with the UW-Superior Symphonic Band, UW-Superior Orchestra, UW-Superior Chamber Wind Ensemble, and UW-Superior Jazz Ensemble. Lisa is an officer for two student organizations, NCCM and NAfME. Lisa studies oboe with Laurie Vanbrunt and conducting with Pamela Bustos. In addition to school, Lisa teaches a private oboe studio, sings with the choir at Cathedral of Christ the Kings, and works as a Guest Services Co-worker at Kwik Trip.
is a junior at UW-Superior where he is pursuing a degree in Jazz Performance. He is a graduate of Wilmot Union High School in Wilmot, Wisconsin. William studies trombone with Larry Zimmerman and Jazz improvisation with Greg Moore. He performs in UW-Superior ensembles including Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band and Jazz Combos. William is an announcer for the Jazz Street program on KUWS 91.3 FM. He is a recipient of the 2013 Big Time Jazz Orchestra scholarship and also serves on their board as a student representative. In January 2014 he was chosen to participate in the Wisconsin National Band Association Collegiate Honor Band.
