Applied Geographic Information System Minor

UW- Superior's G.I.S. Minor is intended to serve students who are majoring in biology, transportation, social sciences, educations, computer science, political science, history, geography, and others. The Applied GIS has been designed to meet this growing demand and it designed by professional to graduate professionals in this field.The Applied GIS minor is being launched at UWS to bring students quickly up to speed on the technology. It's mainly designed to help the students of different disciplines learn and acquire advanced technical skills that they can immediately apply in the workplace.

  • The GIS program allows you to learn and gain first-hand experience with the most up-to-date tools and techniques available in the field of GIS today.
  • We use very advanced harware and software for the GIS teaching, including the 22-PC Pentium IV.
  • All GIS students will complete a class project in each course using real-world data, often for local businesses, government agencies, or ongoing research in their field of expertise.
  • Many trained students have been able to submit their projects and findings at professional conferences and undergraduate research symposia at UWS and at other UW-System campuses.
