UW-Superior novelist and poet publishes new novel

Dr. Jayson Iwen's novel Gnarly Wounds was officially released on the North American market Tuesday, September 24th, by New York publishing house Emergency Press and international distributor Publishers Group West.

In Gnarly Wounds, a work of innovative fiction, Dr. Iwen pushes narrative conventions to their limits, while making sure the reader never gets lost. The novel is composed of three linked novellas that fuse genres and present new ways to conceptualize characterization, structure, and pacing.

Dr. Iwen is proud to announce that, in a special, focus group session of his Spring 2012 cross-genre course, students provided him with valuable feedback that he incorporated into the final version of the novel (these students' names are included in the "Acknowledgements" page at the end of the book).

Dr. Iwen's previously published works include Six Trips in Two Directions, a serial collection of poetry and lyrical nonfiction, and A Momentary Jokebook, the precursor of the first novella in Gnarly Wounds.
