Printable version of this fact sheetThe Women's and Gender Studies program enables students to explore the experiences and perspectives of women in many different academic disciplines as well as to recognize the contributions women have made to society. The program focuses on the roles and images of women from a historical approach, and an exploration of the roles women play in society today in the family, employment, and education.
A minor in Women's Studies is a valuable addition to any major. Employers seek women and men who understand the dynamics of male-female interactions and perspectives.

Program Features:
- The Women's Resource Center, located in the Rothwell Student Center, sponsors seminars and other programs focused on women's current interests and concerns. The center serves as a place for students to meet, talk and study as well as a helpful informational resource for classes.
- The Association for Women Students is an active student organization that works to promote the awareness of women's issues and strives to improve the status of women on campus.
- The Women's and Gender Studies minor, established in 1976, is an interdisciplinary program that offers courses from many academic fields.
