UW-Superior's Department of Health and Human Performance offers a broad range of programs that enable students to study physical education, health, health education and exercise science. Students use these programs to launch careers in education, business, sports, personal fitness, public health and other fields. The program also offers a wide range of minors that are ideal complements to majors in education and business.

The coaching minor reflects the growing interest in sports and recreational activities, which has increased the demand for trained coaches. Teacher Education students can enhance their career opportunities by adding a minor in health or coaching.  A key part of UW-Superior's coaching minor is developing a philosophy to guide coaching decisions, along with identifying and treating sports-related injuries. This minor meets Wisconsin and Minnesota coaching certification requirements.
