Printable version of this fact sheetUW-Superior's Psychology program focuses on human and animal behavior, and explores the processes involved in normal and abnormal thoughts, feelings and actions. Students increase their understanding of behavior while learning psychological facts, methods, principles, and generalizations about individuals and groups. The study of psychology contributes to an understanding of diversity within the human experience in a multicultural world along with an awareness of common experiences and issues.
Students interested in teaching Psychology at the secondary level are encouraged to consider the Broad Field Social Studies Major with a Psychology Concentration. Broad Field Social Studies is a comprehensive inter-disciplinary major designed specifically for students who intend to teach within the social studies disciplines at the secondary level.
The Individually Designed Major offered by UW-Superior permits students to develop an interdisciplinary program in such areas as chemical dependency counseling, gerontology, human health services and public relations.

Program features:
- Students benefit from small classes and personal attention from professors, all of whom hold doctoral degrees in psychology.
- Students gain hands-on experience through research projects. Each year an undergraduate research conference provides a forum for senior psychology majors to present their projects.
- A specialized psychology lab enables students to learn how psychology experiments are conducted and to conduct their own experiments.
- Opportunity to become involved with The Inkblots, a student organization for psychology students.
- Students can pursue a master's degree in community counseling, school counseling or human relations through UW-Superior's Department of Counseling Professions.
Career Outlook:
A major in psychology can be used as background for a wide range of careers in business, education, social work, gerontology and counseling. Some students combine a psychology major with another major or minor to pursue jobs in specialized areas such as industrial psychology. Other students seek entry-level jobs in psychology-related professions, or earn advanced degrees to become clinical psychologists or school psychologists.We invite you to visit:
