Printable version of this fact sheetThe ability to speak, write and understand another language is increasingly valuable in today's world. A Spanish minor is an excellent complement to virtually any major. UW-Superior's Spanish program introduces students to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Courses enable students to lay the groundwork for fluency in Spanish and to enhance practical language skills for specific career purposes.
Students may choose either the Spanish minor or the Spanish minor -- Teacher Certification – Ages 6-13 or 10-21. Students also may work with a faculty member to design their own Spanish Studies major through the Individually Designed Major. This program includes a special study abroad opportunity in conjunction with UW-Superior's cooperating institution in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Program Features:
- Students benefit from small classes and personal attention from professors.
- The Spanish program is part of the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, who also offers programs in German and Chinese.
- The Spanish minors teach the language as well as Hispanic culture.
- UW-Superior offers flexible study abroad opportunities, including an immersion program in Costa Rica.
- The combination of a Spanish minor and UW-Superior's strong Teacher Education program offers opportunities for students who wish to become Spanish teachers.
