One of the strengths of UW-Superior's Teacher Education program is that students get many opportunities to gain experience by working directly with children. Here, elementary education major Jody Potaczek tutors a first-grader in reading at a school in Superior. Jody is taking part in a program that puts UW-Superior students to work one-on-one with children who are reading below their grade level. For most of the university students, it’s their first opportunity to plan lessons and really begin teaching a child. This program was recognized with a statewide award in 2005.
