I am a Psychology major with a Global Studies minor.
On-campus, I am part of the Admissions Office providing tours and helping with office work. I am also part of Call Team in which I call prospective students, letting them know about UW-Superior. Off-campus, I am an employee of Great American Cookies as well as a mother of two cats! Soon I will begin volunteering for Animal Allies as well.
Definitely Swenson Hall because there are several places with large open windows and comfy chairs.
The Yellowjacket Union because there are a couple fireplaces as well as the Jacket Java to warm-up next to on a cold winter morning.
Alcohol Awareness Week and Get Laid Safely Week because both promote education and safety for real life topics that many consider too taboo to discuss. They're great for spreading information, all while getting funny give-aways and free stuff!
My favorite class was Learning Afghanistan (my First Year Seminar) and Muslim Studies with Dr. Pricilla Staratt. Both of these classes removed stigmas and misconceptions in my mind and also educate me on what is really happening in the world. Dr. Pricilla Staratt turned out to be one of my most admired professors and helped me decided upon a Global Studies minor.
To meet new people. All of my closest friends I have today I met in the residence halls. It's also a great stepping stone into living on your own and feeling independent.
I choose UW-Superior for a number of reasons. The small classes and community feel were a big one fore me. It also was far enough away from home where I could truly grow to be my own person, yet close enough that I can still get home within a few hours if need be. Also, the Art Therapy program (my first intended major) was available. This is a great fit for me!
