
AGREEMENT FOR
TRANSFER BETWEEN
Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College
AND THE
University of Wisconsin - Superior
I. Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College, Hayward, Wisconsin, is an independent campus in the Wisconsin State System. Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The University of Wisconsin System has granted permission for the University of Wisconsin-Superior to continue all aspects of the existing relationship. In the interest of fostering cooperation between our institutions, to better serve the transfer of students from Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College to the University of Wisconsin-Superior, hereby enter into this articulation agreement.
II. The following articles delineate the understanding between Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
A. Students will be encouraged to complete the Associate of Arts degree at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College which will fulfill the UW-Superior lower division general education requirements as long as campus specific stipulations are met. Those stipulations are expressed in terms of the 1996-98 UW-Superior catalog and the 1995-98 Lac Courte Oreilles Community College catalog.
1.Completion of English 101 and 102 at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College which is equivalent to UW-Superior’s English 101 and 102.
2.Completion of Math 146 or a higher level math course at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College which is equivalent to UW-Superior’s Math 104.
3. Completion of Eng 221 at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College which is equivalent to UW-Superior’s Communication Arts 110. (If the student will be seeking teacher certification, a grade of C or better is required.)
4.The general agreement refers to all Associate of Arts degrees except non-college parallel technical programs.
III. In order to facilitate the transferability of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College students who have completed the Associate of Arts degree in Health, with an emphasis on alcoholism and substance abuse counseling (the AODA Certification Program), to the University of Wisconsin-Superior and its Social Work Program, the faculty of the two institutions agree, effective Fall Semester, 1995 to allow the transfer of the following courses, as meeting the criteria of course work falling within the program requirements of the social work major.
1.Completion of SOC 111, Introduction to Sociology will be allowed in place of the UW-Superior introductory sociology course.
2.Completion of POL 110, Introduction to American Government, will be allowed in place of the UW-Superior introductory government course.
3.Completion of HTH 230, Human Anatomy and Physiology, will be allowed in place of the UW-Superior human biology course.
4. Completion of ENG 222, Creative Writing, will be allowed in place of the UW-Superior writing course.
5.Completion of PSY 210, General Psychology, will be allowed in place of one of two psychology courses offered at UW-Superior.
6.Completion of MTH 113, Introduction to Statistics will be allowed in place of one of two statistics courses offered at UW-Superior.
7.Completion of BUS 220, Economics, will be allowed in place of the UW-Superior economics course.
8. Six credits from the following elective courses may be applied towards a social work major at UW-Superior; ADA 107, AODA Counseling Skills I, ADA 150 Introduction to Group Counseling, ADA 216, Group Counseling/Theories and Practice, ADA 217, Alcoholism and the Family, ADA 250, AODA Counseling Skills II, and/or ADA 291, Field Practicum - Alcohol and Substance Abuse.
B. Transferring Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College students will be treated as though they had been at UW-Superior as freshman and will be given the same priorities and advantages as residential students providing they have met the Associate of Arts degree at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College excluding non-transferrable technical programs.
C. Students who matriculate to UW-Superior are subject to the degree requirements in effect in the student’s catalog of entry and to the Social Work Program’s admission process.
D .Representatives of Lac
Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College and the University of
Wisconsin-Superior will
explore the development of program to program articulation
agreements including Associate of Arts degrees.
E. Both institutions agree to monitor the progress of the agreement, evaluate its effectiveness, and make suggestions to modify this agreement.
