Center for Academic Advising

Special Adults

Special Adult Advisement and Registration for Spring Semester begins November 5, 2013.

Special Adult students who have been officially admitted and have paid their $100 enrollment fee should contact the Center for Academic Advisement at 715 394-8515 or via e-mail at

If you plan to take only a course or two for personal enrichment or to transfer to another institution, make sure you check the course description for prerequisite requirements in the university catalog. Course prerequisites are entered into our registration system for all courses offered at UWS and our registration system will not allow enrollment if a course prerequisite is not indicated as being met. Although Special Adult students are not required to submit an official college transcript for Admissions purposes, you may need to provide this information in order to verify that you have met a prerequisite requirement to allow enrollment.

If you believe you have completed a prerequisite requirement at another institution, provide an unofficial transcript to the Center Office, Old Main 134, so we can verify that the prerequisite has been met. Providing this information will expedite your ability to register. Students who do not submit an unofficial transcript for prerequisite verification will be referred to the course instructor to officially obtain written consent from the instructor on a course request form or a drop/add slip to enroll in the class prior to registration. Note: After spring semester has ended, some course instructors may not be available until the first week of classes.

Special Adult students, in most instances, do not qualify for financial aid. Special Adult students who are planning to complete a degree at UWS must change to degree seeking status by the time they have earned 29 credits. See change to degree seeking status in the university catalog.

We hope this information has been helpful. If you have further questions, please contact the Center Office via e-mail at advise@uwsuper.edu.

Note: It is the student's responsibility to be knowledgeable of policies and procedures regarding to academic requirements, dates, and deadlines as indicated in the on-line UWS catalog and academic calendar.
