John L Banks Jr. provided a critical boost to the UW-Superior hockey program in the late 1960s by organizing the Superior Blue Line Hockey Club. An honorary alumnus of UW-Superior, he was a strong backer of university athletics and a board member of the University of Wisconsin-Superior Foundation Inc.
