Clarence Esterl

Outstanding athlete, educator, and naval pilot

Clarence Esterl was an outstanding boxer, becoming the first to ever fight a national NCAA bout in 1939. He also lettered in football and was a member of the 1936 conference championship team. He died on Aug. 22, 1943, on his first combat mission as a U.S. Navy pilot.
