Outstanding athlete, coach and educator

Joseph Horyza received the Most Valuable Player Award as a basketball player. The 1930 Gitche Gumee described him as "a bulwark of strength underneath the basket and his wonderful physique could bounce opposing players off as easily as water rolls off the proverbial duck."
