Terry Laube of Owen, Wisconsin, built a stellar career as a football player at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Mr. Laube was a starter for the Yellowjackets from 1975 to 1978 and served as team captain during his sophomore, junior and senior years.
He twice led the team in tackles and assists. As a senior, he set the single-season school record for total tackles with 209 and for solo tackles with 66. He set school records of 640 career tackles and 210 career solo tackles.
Among his many awards, he was three times named the team's Most Valuable Player and twice named the Most Valuable Defensive Back. As a senior, he was voted the university's Most Dedicated Athlete and named to the All-Conference Team, the NAIA District 14 Team and selected to be an AP-NAIA All-American. He also received a free-agent tryout with the Dallas Cowboys.
Since graduating in 1978, Mr. Laube has become a successful dairy farmer, family man and community member. Since 1989 he has served as head football coach for Owen-Withee High School, leading his players to two state championships and five conference titles.
