A superior athlete, lettering in football, basketball, track, wrestling and tennis.

Voted All-Conference track in 1959.

Successful high school and college football coach.

Coached University of Pennsylvania to Ivy League co-championship in 1982.

Voted Ivy League Coach of the Year in 1982.

Head football coach at Rice University.
