Mr. Fukushima was named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team in 1972, named NAIA All-American in 1974 and 1975, and named UW-Superior's Most Valuable Player in hockey in 1974 and 1975. At the time of his induction, he was eighth on the university's list of all-time scorers with 152 points.

From 1977 to 1983, he taught physical education and coached hockey at Superior Senior High School, leading its team to state championships in 1981 and 1982 and to a state runner-up finish in 1983. He taught physical education and launched the hockey program in Winona, Minn., before taking his current job teaching physical education in Owatonna.
