The first two books in the series: The Gnome Came Home

Joy Bashara Ingram, MA, Class of 1978, has just released the second book in a series of four for children titled The Gnome Came Home. Eilert's Long Way Home continues the story of the first book, Eilert the Gnome Loses Home, in which a gnome named Eilert Boe loses his way.

"My intent when writing the books was to let children discover, along with the little gnome, what family and home means. His experiences mirror the experiences of many children as they see the changes in their own families and homes" said Joy. A teacher of children's drama and English, her credits include sharing her skills in Russia, Scotland, and the Czech Republic, as well as teaching for many years in Superior and the Midwest. Joy currently lives in Green Bay.

June Nyberg, Superior resident and illustrator of the books, is a recognized national folk artist and rosemaler. Recently interviewed and photographed along with her work and home, she was recognized by the Wisconsin Arts Board as an Artist of Excellence in Wisconsin. June also teaches classes throughout the Midwest. In speaking about the illustrations, June said "I read the words and wait for the inspiration of what needs to be added to offer enhancement, without taking all opportunities for individual interpretation". Arlene Osterlund, Class of 1974, also lent a hand by helping to edit the books.

The books are available from JujoImaginings Book Publisher. Please email Joy at joybaing@gmail.com for more information or to order. Or visit the website.
