Regardless of the discipline, teachers assume that students taught in or outside the classroom will gain a particular set of knowledge, competencies and skills.  However, what evidence is there for us to know how well students have actually achieved those expected learning outcomes?   

Assessment of student learning outcomes is a process to gather the credible evidence of what students achieved through their learning opportunities, to reflect upon it and to make evidence-based efforts to improve students' learning environment.
