The game started out with two members of the Jackets being honored for reaching 1,000 points: Dwight Hill, a senior from Chicago, IL, and Jake Smith, a junior from Rhinelander, WI. The Yellowjackets started the game off strong by going into halftime with a sixteen point lead 41-25. It was Dan Culy, a junior from Rice Lake, WI, that led the Jackets in the first half with fifteen points. Culy hit four of his six three point attempts. Ben Aalfs, a sophomore from Hutchinson, MN, was very strong on the glass, snatching four rebounds to lead the team. The 'Jackets were very strong defensively only allowing Northwestern to make 37.9% of their shots; including a stretch of over seven minutes where Northwestern was only able to execute one basket.
In the second half, Smith scored eighteen points; finishing his day with a total of twenty-two points. Aalfs continued to get rebounds with three more in the second half, bringing his total to seven for the game. Culy finished the day with fifteen points, followed by Hill who had twelve. The 'Jackets shot 50% for the game scoring seventy-three points in their win against Northwestern 73-64. With this win, the Jackets improve their record to 4-2 and Northwestern drops to 4-4.
The 'Jackets will be back in action at home on Saturday when they take on conference rival UW-Whitewater at 3pm.
