SAINT PAUL, MINN. (January 12, 2010) - Senior forward Chris Wilson (Prince Albert, Sask. / Nebraska-Omaha) of UW-Superior has been named player of the week for January 4 - 10, 2009, the NCHA announced today. Wilson led the Yellowjackets to a win and tie last weekend, tallying six points in the two games.
Wilson scored the eventual game-winning goal in a 5-1 win at Bethel last Friday night. He also assisted on the 3rd and 4th goals as the 'Jackets pulled away from the Royals. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for UWS.
On Saturday Wilson was at it again, this time helping rescue his team from a 4-1 deficit at then #7 Hamline. He added an assist in the second period on a goal which tied the game, but the Pipers were in control into the third. Thomas Erlacher (Brunico, Italy / Alaska) scored at 5:47 to cut Hamline's lead to two, then Wilson lit the lamp less than two minutes later. With the score 4-3 and the clock ticking away, Wilson set up Talon Berlando (Drumheller, AB) on the tying goal at 13:16. The teams would finish in a 4-4 tie after regulation and overtime.
On the year, Wilson eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points. Last weekend marked the 6th and 7th times this season he has recorded a multi-point game.
