Dan Laughlin enters his fifth season as the Head Women’s Hockey Coach for the UW-Superior Yellowjackets with an overall record of 74-25-8. Last season Coach Laughlin led his team to their third NCHA Championship posting a record of 18-6-3. In his four seasons, Coach Laughlin has been awarded NCHA Coach of the Year twice in 2004 & 2006 along with being ranked nationally in the top ten in all four seasons. Under Laughlin’s leadership he has produced 5All-Americans, 2 NCHA Player of the Year Awards, 12 NCHA All-Conference Awards, 28 NCHA All-Academic Team Awards and led his team to the NCAA tournament in 2006.

Coach Laughlin also played for the Yellowjackets men’s hockey team from 1989-1992 and captained his team to the first of nine NCAA Final Four appearances under Head Coach Steve Nelson. After his collegiate career Laughlin went on to play two seasons of professional hockey and later was the assistant coach of the Superior Senior High boy’s hockey team that won two straight Wisconsin State Championships. Coach Laughlin then moved on as an assistant coach with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League and later was named the head coach of the Madison Capitols. Laughlin has also coached in youth hockey associations and acted as a hockey instructor for numerous hockey schools, camps and clinics. Coach Laughlin, a Minnetonka, Minnesota native resides in the Twin Ports area with his wife Jill and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree, and is currently finishing up his Masters Degree at UW-Superior
