Dan Laughlin enters his seventh season as the head women’s hockey coach for the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets with an overall record of 119-39-11.  During the 2007-2008 season, coach Laughlin led his team to its fourth NCHA championship and its first NCHA Playoff Championship while posting a record of 23-6-1 and a No. 4 ranking in the nation.  In his six seasons at UWS, Laughlin has been awarded NCHA Coach of the Year three times, 2004, 2006 and 2008, along with being ranked nationally in the top 10 in all six seasons.  Under Laughlin’s leadership, UWS has produced seven All-Americans, three NCHA Player of the Year Awards, 19 NCHA First-Team All-Conference Awards, 44 NCHA All-Academic Team Awards and led his team to the NCAA tournament in 2006 and the 2008 Frozen Four.

Laughlin also played for the Yellowjackets men’s hockey team from 1989-92 and captained his team to the first of nine NCAA Final Four appearances under head coach, and now UW-Superior Athletic Director, Steve Nelson.  After his collegiate career, Laughlin went on to play two seasons of professional hockey and later was the assistant coach of the Superior Senior High School boys hockey team which won two straight Wisconsin state championships.  Laughlin then moved on as an assistant coach with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League and later was named the head coach of the Madison Capitols.  Laughlin has also coached in youth hockey associations and acted as a hockey instructor for numerous hockey schools, camps and clinics.

Laughlin, a Minnetonka, Minn. native, resides in the Twin Ports area with his wife, Jill.

James Stauber enters his first year as a Women's Yellowjacket Assistant Coach. A long standing figure in the youth hockey coaching community, he coached his first team in 1984. He has coached at every level of amateur hockey and the last three years served as an Assistant Coach for the Proctor/Hermantown/Marshall Mirage Girls High School Hockey Team where he helped guide the Mirage to an overall three year record of 53-25-3.  The former Duluth Denfeld and University of Minnesota Graduate played both Varsity High School and Varsity Collegiate Hockey (University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire).  He has served as a USA Hockey Advanced 14 and 15 National Level Coach, a Minnesota Hockey Advanced 15 and 17 Level Coach and served as a Minnesota Hockey Coach-In-Chief (District 11) for 4 years. In 2009, Stauber, elder brother of UWS Men's Head Hockey Coach Dan Stauber, was recognized as the Minnesota High School Leagues Section 7AA Girls Assistant Coach of the Year.

A 23 year veteran of the Minnesota National Guard, Lt Col Stauber continues to serve as a full-time Commanding Officer with the Minnesota Air National Guard's 148th Fighter Wing (Director of Communications and Information Management).  His military organization has been recognized on several occasions as the Outstanding Communications Unit throughout the entire United States Air National Guard. He is currently President of Stauber Brothers Inc. and Vice President of Stauber Properties.  He is married to the former Diane Honer and has three children, Malaree 21 (UMD), Derek 18 (UWS) and Emma 16 (Duluth Marshall).
