Melissa Nelmark is in her second season as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer teams. Nelmark graduated from UW-Superior in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education with a minor in coaching. As an athlete at UW-Superior, Nelmark was a contributing member of UW-Superior women's softball team that captured the first ever Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship. Nelmark was also named the team's best defensive player. She was also named to the WIAC all-conference team and the all-region and all-region tournament teams in 2002. She returned tot he soccer field in 2002 but her season was cut short due to a knee injury. She returned to the softball team in 2004 as she once again was a contributing member of UW-Superior's WIAC championship team. She was also named to the all-region tournament team for the second time in her career.

During the 2005-06 season, Nelmark worked as a development and ability team alpine ski coach with the Spirit Mountain Racing Team. In the summer of 2005, Nelmark worked as the soccer and touch football instructor for the National Youth Sports Program held on the UW-Superior campus. While student teaching during the spring semester of 2005, Nelmark was a volunteer coordinator for the area's Hoops for Hearts program, as well as a volunteer sports coach for an after school program.

Nelmark is a graduate of Duluth East High School and she transferred to UW-Superior from the University of Minnesota-Morris. At UM-Morris, she was named a Northern Sun Intercollegiate All-Conference honorable mention selection in 1999 and 2000. She was also named MVP of the UM-Morris soccer team in 1999 and in 2000 as well as being named the team's best defensive player. As a softball player at UM-Morris, she was named the team's best defensive player in 2000 and 2001, as well as Co-Most Inspirational in 2001.

Nelmark recently completed her United State Soccer Federation (USSF) National D license.
