Aijala Lead Women's Track & Field Team

The women's track and field team hosted the Border Battle indoor track & field meet in the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse, which included teams from Wisconsin (UW-Superior, UW-Stout, and St. Norbert College) and Minnesota (St. Scholastica, St. Mary's, and Hamline).

Jaclyn Aijala, FR- (Hurley, WI) made her Yellowjacket debut by earning a second place finish in the 55 meters with a time of 7.64, and a third place finish in the 200 meters, which she ran in 27.73.

Aijala also ran the second leg of the 4 x 200 meter relay team which finished in 3rd place with a seasons best time of 1:54.35. Other members of the all freshmen relay team included Kaitlyn Mielke- (Green Bay, WI), Megan Dormedy- (Duluth, MN-Denfeld), and Alyssa Breu- (Faribault, MN).

In the 800 meters, two seasonal best marks were established as Cassey Hoffmann, JR- (Waukesha, WI) finished 3rd in 2:35.89, and Kristen Jasperson, FR-(Osceola, WI) was 4th in 2:37.32.

In the field events, Katie Capriglione, FR- (Duluth, MN- Al Brook High School) had a personal best toss in the weight throw with a mark of 12.08 meters (39'- 7 3/4") and a best mark in the shot put of 11.51 meters (37' 9 1/4").

Terresa Leinon, FR- (Hurley, WI) also made her Yellowjacket debut during the meet, and she had a best leap of 1.42 meters in the high jump (4- 7 3/4").

The women's team will be in action action on Saturday as St. Scholastica will be hosting the Lake Superior Challenge. On Friday night though, Kristen Jasperson will be competing in the pentathlon event, which consists of the 55 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and 800 meters.
