The Perkins Loan is a Federal need-based student loan available to both undergraduate and graduate students subject to available funding at the time of awarding financial aid. The Perkins loan is a fixed low-interest (5%) loan with repayment of principal and interest beginning nine (9) months after graduation, enrollment dropping below half time status or leaving the university. Interest does not accrue as long as student is enrolled at least half-time.
