"wall-breaking" launches library renovation
(June 10, 2008) -- Students and
university officials swinging hammers began breaking through a wall of the
University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Jim Dan Hill Library on June 10 to
symbolically launch the building’s $7.7 million renovation.

new academic building will be named Swenson Hall in honor of James and Susan
Swenson, alumni and long-time university benefactors whose $5 million gift
played a critical role in making the building possible.

Donor issues $500,000 fund-raising challenge to alumni and friends of
UW-Superior
(Sept. 28, 2007) -- An anonymous donor
is offering $500,000 to the University of Wisconsin-Superior if alumni and
friends of the university match that amount with their own gifts in the next six
months, the University of Wisconsin-Superior Foundation announced today.

Legacy: Retired professor's gift to help new academic building
(June 14, 2007)
Between them, Dr. Egal Feldman and Dr. Joan Bischoff devoted 42 years to
sharing their knowledge and wisdom with students at UW-Superior. Now, through a
significant gift to Campaign Superior: Higher Expectations, their legacy
to education will continue far into the future. When finished, UW-Superior’s new
academic building will include a seminar room named for the late Dr. Feldman and
another named for Dr. Bischoff.

Rolls-Royce auction nets $18,600 for Campaign Superior
(Dec. 4, 2006)
The Chancellor’s Ball on Dec. 2, 2006, was even more exciting than usual
thanks to a live and online fund-raising auction for a 1973 Rolls-Royce Silver
Shadow that concluded during the ball. The sale brought a lot of publicity and

Donor gives $250,000 to library renovation, student leadership program
(Oct. 13, 2006)
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Foundation
Inc. today announced a $250,000 gift to the university’s Campaign Superior:
Higher Expectations. The gift, from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous,
will be used two ways: Part will be dedicated to the renovation of Jim Dan Hill
Library in honor of the late Eugene "Pops" Lundholm, a former library director
and one-time advisor of the campus chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. The
other portion of the gift will be used for a leadership development program for

signs. Each features "Buzz the Builder" -- the Yellowjacket mascot sporting a
hardhat and tool belt -- and notes the location of a building project that's

John and Aurelia Bremer pledge over $1 million to
Campaign Superior
(May 20, 2006)
John Bremer, a University of Wisconsin-Superior
graduate who rose to the rank of Colonel in the Air Force and then built a
successful career in the aerospace industry, and his wife Aurelia are pledging
$1.04 million to Campaign Superior: Higher Expectations.

CN contributes $575,000 to establish the CN
Rail Studies Fund at UW-Superior; gift will help university prepare more rail
transportation professionals
(Jan. 20, 2006)
CN, one of North America's largest railroads, announced Jan. 20, 2006, a $575,000
gift to the University of Wisconsin-Superior to create the CN Rail Studies Fund.
The contribution will help the university’s Transportation and Logistics
Management program recruit and educate more students for careers in the growing

New tax legislation allows gifts of retirement
plan assets
to the University of Wisconsin-Superior
On September 23, 2005, President Bush signed tax legislation that allows
individuals over age 59 1/2 to make unlimited cash gifts of retirement assets --
401(k), 403(b), IRA and other qualified plans -- to any public charitable
organization, including UW-Superior.

State Building Commission approves planning money;
UW-Superior building projects moving forward
(Oct. 21, 2005) UPDATE: The State Building Commission on Oct. 19 approved
funding of planning dollars for two major building projects at
UW-Superior. It was the latest step as three important campus building projects
advance
through the state approval process, with preliminary work on two projects
scheduled to begin in the coming months.

CN’s $30,000 gift to
UW-Superior aids political science internships
(Aug. 29, 2005) CN, one of the largest railroads in North America that operates extensive
facilities in Northern Wisconsin and Northern Minnesota, announced today it is
donating $30,000 to the University of Wisconsin-Superior to continue a program
that helps political science students gain practical experience in government

National Leadership Council met on campus July 20-21, 2005, to continue to
set goals and formulate strategy for Campaign Superior: Higher Expectations.
Among the activities, the group toured Jim Dan Hill Library and McCaskill Hall

Estate gift of
$350,000 will fund professorship at UW-Superior
(Dec. 14, 2004) Two friends of University of Wisconsin-Superior have
put forth $350,000 to fund a future professorship at the campus. Rebecca (an
alumna) and J. Doug Pruitt of Phoenix, Ariz., have created an irrevocable estate
gift to support faculty members who apply critical thinking skills and
philosophy as a major emphasis to their teaching and curriculum.

and how today's students, faculty and administrators are bringing the liberal

Alumnus Jon Garver
and family create scholarship to honor his father
(July 30, 2004) - Ted Garver was a man of strong convictions who believed
passionately in the value of education. When he was diagnosed
with an almost-certainly fatal form of cancer, Garver told his
son, Jon, that he couldn't die until he had provided for the
college education of his future grandchildren. Ted Garver, 54, eventually lost his fight with cancer. But his
legacy, and his passion for education, will live on thanks in
part to the Ted Garver Memorial Scholarship, established by his
family and the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

single gift ever;
$5 million pledged toward new academic building
(Nov. 25, 2003) -
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Foundation is
receiving its largest single gift ever - a $5 million pledge
toward construction of a new cutting-edge academic building at
UW-Superior. The gift is from friends of UW-Superior who have had
a long-term interest in the university. It is the first single
seven-figure gift received by the university in its 110-year
