UW-Superior alumnus Christa Overson is moving up in her career as a mental health professional.  While working as an Intensive Case Manager for the Human Development Center's (H.D.C.) Assertive Community Treatment (A.C.T.) program, Christa has been gaining valuable experience toward being licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Before graduation she reached out to UW-Superior Career Services for assistance on her career portfolio and helping shape an ideal professional message in her job search. That message being: an exceptional candidate that goes above and beyond the expectations of the employer. Christa graduated in December 2011 with an M.S.E. in Guidance and Counseling. 

Christa has been working hard to search for additional employment opportunities. Recently, she was offered the position of Outpatient Psychotherapist with the H.D.C. The opportunity to apply for the position was discovered by a job posting through H.D.C. email. Christa credits part of her success to the preparedness gained in the course work at UW-Superior. "My instructors in the Counseling Program provided me with guidance, feedback, and support that helped to reassure my confidence in my abilities" said Christa. She went on further to say, "knocking on doors of opportunity through her own individual initiative is what helped make the difference and don't be afraid to knock on the door more than once."
