Workshop Details

Participants will learn age appropriate teaching and learning strategies for engaging children in listening to music - many with links to creative explorations in music and composing. Topics include hands on learning in traditional and non-traditional ways to compose and notate music with children, how to embed improvising and composing into lesson content, classroom activities in support of children's development of musical skills and understanding, and creative thinking in music. This workshop includes introduction to some software programs appropriate for elementary age children and upper elementary/middle school and high school.
