Participants will receive beginning instruction in playing soprano and baritone ukuleles, guitar and autoharp as applied to harmonizing children's songs and folksongs with practical applications to classroom and recreational uses. Includes learning how to read music and frets for these instruments and how to harmonize folk and children's music.
The basics of Orff instrumentation, arranging and ensemble playing including ways to integrate Orff instrument playing/singing into elementary classroom activities will be covered. In addition, uses of percussion instruments for building rhythmic skills, composing, and integration activities in general and elementary education classrooms will be discussed. Comprehensive, sequentially designed music education through soprano recorder playing and introduction to alto recorder and recorder consort will be explored.
