About the Forum

Nationally, people 65 and older are the fastest growing segment of the population and will be for most of the next two decades. In the Greater Twin Ports, where we have an over age 65 population exceeding the national average, the issues for caring for an aging parent or other family member are especially great.

This Twin Ports community forum will include presentations from area experts on the challenges of being a caregiver to aging adults, legal issues and the economic implications of an aging population. In addition, a panel of elder services providers from Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin will provide resource materials and answer participants' questions and concerns.

After attending this forum you will:

  • Understand how the "age wave" is likely to affect you and your family
  • Be prepared to assist older adults in your life and help them retain independence
  • Be aware of key legal issues you may need to address
  • Be able to seek out resources to be a healthy caregiver
  • Identify community resources available
  • Learn tips to manage stress effectively
