Multifaceted Dementia Care: Pearls of Wisdom, Gems of Hope

Caring for individuals with dementia is difficult, particularly when aggression, wandering or other inappropriate and unsafe behaviors arise. Understanding these behaviors and what triggers them can help both personal and professional caregivers respond and provide the support needed to reduce their frequency.

At this workshop you'll learn:

  • To distinguish different types of dementia
  • To identify behaviors and strategies specific to the disease progression
  • When medical illnesses may be mimicking or worsening dementia
  • When and how psychotropic medications may be appropriate
  • Practical, real-world strategies for coping with challenging behaviors

  • Inclusions: Evaluating & Treating Medical Conditions Contributing to Behavioral Issues in Older Adults
