How can I be more intellectually challenged and fulfilled in my life?
These days there is so much to learn, explore and enjoy. When you are comfortable with your career or retirement, family and life, there often comes a time that you crave something more stimulating, challenging and creative. That's where we can help. We have a wide array of programs for people of all ages that are designed to build upon your current knowledge and skills and help bring you to a new level of personal and intellectual development.
We can help you find rewarding outlets for your hungry mind. All you have to do is ask.
Here are the options from which you may choose to continue learning:
I already have a degree but would it help my career to take additional academic credit courses?
By all means. There are many reasons why students who already have a degree return to college. Taking additional coursework promotes development, stimulates further academic pursuits and often helps with careers changes and promotions. Sometimes taking a graduate class leads to enrollment in a master's or post-master's degree program. Many of our credit courses are also offered as web-based courses, enabling students who are already working to easily add this to their busy schedules. Now courses are added throughout the year and enrollment are often available.
Community Education Programs
Conferences and Workshops are available during the Spring, Summer, Fall of 2007.
Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Adults
The Center for Continuing/Extension offers two different options for older adults seeking social and educational opportunities:
Elderhostel is the worlds first and largest education and travel organization for older adults. Elderhostel at the University of Wisconsin-Superior offers programs for both local residents and those who wish to travel to our region. Our programs offer an excellent opportunity to learn and to meet new people from all over.
How can I make a difference and make important improvements in my community?
We know how frustrating it can be when you want to make changes in your community.
Making changes and improvements in the community can be very frustrating and difficult. We can help you develop the knowledge base, communication and network that can help you with your goals. Each year the Leadership Superior/Douglas County Program selects 30 participants to participate in a year long training program with a wide cross and divers group of community members who want to emerge as community leaders.
