Advance Your career

  • How can I get ahead in my career?

Sometimes it's easy to feel trapped in a dead end job.  With a tight economy, downsizing and fierce job competition, you may feel trapped in a not so rewarding job. That's where we come in. We can help you expand your horizons to more challenging work, job promotions and more take home pay. We can help you feel more confident that you are a true expert in your field and provide the most up to date and highest quality.

We can help you advance your career. All you have to do is ask.

Here are the options from which you may choose to advance your career:

  • How do I really know that I'm an expert in my field?

This is a very understandable concern. The knowledge base in every field is rapidly expanding, and it's hard to know whether you are up to date in your practice and work. We know you want to be an expert in your field and confident that your knowledge base is current so you can perform the highest level of excellence. We also know that in today's competitive job market it often takes more than just a degree to get the job you want. A certificate of specialization can often give you the competitive edge you need to advance your career.
  • I already have a degree but would it help my career to take additional academic credit courses?

By all means. There are many reasons why students already have a degree return to college. Taking additional coursework promotes development, stimulates further academic pursuits and often helps with career changes and promotions. Sometimes taking a graduate class leads to enrollment in a master's or post-master's degree program. Many of our credit courses are also offered as web-based courses, enabling students who are already working to easily add this to their busy schedules. New courses are added throughout the year and enrollment deadlines are often flexible.
  • Am I truly providing the highest quality and up to date health care in my field?

This a valid concern. Each day there huge advances in health care and even though you have a degree and/or license in your field, we know you want to be sure you are providing the excellent health care that you and your agency take pride in. We also know that you and your agency are ethically bound to ensure you are current in your field. We can help with that. Each year we offer many conferences that focus on health care. We work with key leaders in the region to provide conferences that often include national experts.
  • How can I make a difference and make important improvements in my community?

We know how frustrating it can be when you want to make changes in your community.   Making changes and improvements in the community can be very frustrating and difficult. We can help you develop the knowledge base, communication and network that can help you with your goals. Each year the Leaderships Superior/Douglas County Program selects 30 participants to participate in a year long training program with a wide cross and divers group of community members who want to emerge as community leaders.
  • How can I manage my nonprofit business more effectively and efficiently?

These are challenges we now well.  With funding cuts, increased competition for funds that still exist, increased costs of employee pay and benefits and the need to often cut budgets rather than increase them, we know how challenging it is to manage non-profit organizations. We can help you learn new set of skills in your non-profit area, network with others, learn from experts in the field and learn about new programmatic and funding strategies.
